The Gonzo Lecture, like everything else, is a form of representation. It attempts to mix truth & fiction in an indistinguishable fashion in order to protect the writer from consequences which come about as a result of readers not liking their truthtelling.
As we're living in a society being run by the Stupid for the stupid, ramifications are generally often experienced by the weak as a direct consequence of them speaking critical truths concerning the injustices they experience at the hands of their "rulers".
In a society which is elitist & run for the benefit of the upper classes by the middle classes, through the efforts & labour of the workers, it's often perceived to be in nobody's immediate interests to speak the right thing at the wrong time. Believe me, there's never a good time for the upper & middle classes to hear the workers speaking criticism about the way they're being ruled.
In this ongoing saga of the weak & the powerful, anybody daring to speak out about injustice better watch out. This is especially so for those who do not aspire to ascend the levels of the class structure, & for whom intellect, people-skills & oratorical prowess collide.
Such people better seriously think about their place in the social order & how dependent they want to be on the favours of their masters.
It's often a case of going "No Boss" at some risk to personal security, versus putting oneself in the incapable hands of the middle management, the middle class tools of the big controllers.
When your experience tells u that there really isn't any sort of long term job security anyway, we might just want to return to the ideals of the socialist, mixed-market democracy & just provide for our community together.
If however, you reflect this idea, realise that companies that pay us to do their bidding require us via a legal contract to do just that. Therefore there's no point rebelling against them when they are paying, and there's no scope to simply pass off the injustices perpetuated by our cooperation with our masters in the name of following orders.
Think about it. This is not what the mass higher education-for-jobs-industry will have you believe. Woe to any university academic that dares to mention this in the name of academic freedom.
You have any thoughts yet?
