He was a hidden brother in my holy roller days in the late eighties when I was out to save the world for Jesus. They were good days, crazy days and I don't regret any of them.
I was a vain, self obsessed young man and didn't think I was. I made major, sometimes life changing decisions based little more than an inspired whim. To a great extent, I suppose I still, somewhat live that way.
So I arrived in Norwich, thoroughly expecting everything to work out. This gave me courage to keep taking chances. In those days, we just took chances. I guess it's different when you're single with no dependents; you can afford to take risks to get where you wanted to go. I knew I wasn't going anywhere in the town where I grew up. I'd ended up playing squash and drinking fucking Stella Artois with the lads after a Friday evening squash game. Then I'd go home with a curry and poke the missus. Top life, that. It suits some people, but I'm suspicious it only does so because they are ignorant. This is just my opinion.
