An article tweeted recently, entitled: "2016 : The Year The Left Broke" entices, without delivering to the political thinker. In fact, when you boil most things down, and continue to think at a certain level, most pieces of #posttruth product are pretty-much garbage. However, the title of the piece inspires me onwards, to try and consider the issue more carefully.
Since I first attended graduate school, I've been concerned with people who do the work involved, in order to be rightly called a "professional", versus the ever growing dearth of mediocrity & crappiness that happily embraces the term without undergoing the hardship, sacrifice and effort to often know even what they're talking about.
This is largely to do with an upturned, yet well-meant recognition that some, basic training is required in order to do anything that's remotely difficult.
Of course, this flies in the face of the UK, public broadcasting, popular notion that anybody can do anything they put their tiny minds to.
Since I began scribbling this discussion, if you can call it that, the Fabians have published a report, which claims that the Labour Party's only chance of being reelected will be to ally themselves with coalition partners such as the SNP & the Liberal Democrats. Of course, Corbyn doesn't agree with this view. I don't think he agrees with criticism of any kind, at all.
In the meantime ,we're faced with the prospect of #MarineLePen possibly winning the French general election, possibly the ultra-right winning in Netherlands and even Merkel losing in Germany. If this all happens shortly, then the EU will be finished and the Left will no longer have a popular voice.
