Could "The Elite" please raise your hands...

I've been listening to & reading about a bunch'v things being introduced as "new", in the light of certain shocking realities.

These "new phenomena", are peddled currently by Liberals, media, pollsters, politicians, pundits - all the people who've either scrambled to public positions, or inherited through birth or contacts, to become those hired by others to do for the rest of us what we should do for ourselves.

These people are part of the world's machine, designed to keep us in our social & economic positions, doing what we've always done, which is serving the interests of this mysterious, shadow world government, referred to only as "The Elite."

The harsh, new realities being peddled by the mediatorial class of people mentioned earlier, mainly include macroenvironmental changes, which threaten their own, self-interests.

My previous post, entitled "Post-Truth Identity", refers to the opinion article by Christiane Amanpour of #CNN, which is based on a speech she gave to a bunch'v of leading journos about the risk that the new #Trump Presidency may bring to press freedoms in America.

I've much respect for #christianeamanpour, for decades of sterling work as a #CNN anchor. However, in this article, she espouses the virtues of a journalism industry as truth-delivery agents, as the thin, ink line between the corruption of public office and the interests of the public they self-appointedly serve.

I'm sure journos like their standard of living, and view their tenure as a product of doing work, that serves the greater public good. Indeed, there is a general view that without free journalism, where will the counterpoint to official communication or action come from?

The "truth" is that outside of public sector broadcasting - such as the UK's own, public funded BBC, every other journalism product comes to us via (and, some may argue, because of) private, commercial interests. In particular, these interests are expressed through the advertising messages that sandwich those "truths" that remain so sacred to our democratic and developed value-laden future.

I'm glad we celebrate a "free" - press. I'm conscious of the risks taken by journalists to bring investigative stories to market and the likelihood that without them, the world of public office would be less able to be regulated by the courts.

However, the idea that these non-commercial, ethical, public-serving agents of the people are labouring with hearts filled only with good things for the world, surely has to be questioned, when commercial interests form the basis of their funding.

Another party #amanpour refers to, is "The Elite", as if they're completely separate from her class of truth-crusaders.

I'm not in favour of ridiculous, made up stories that claim things that aren't true and an certainly against misinformation, engineered to mislead voters, for example.

However, the idea that only journalism is qualified to put facts forth into the public domain is ridiculous, particularly in the age of centralised agencies that seem to get most of their so called news off the Internet anyway.
