Powersforgood

There is a little thing that goes round my mind, now and then. It's the Silver Surfer berating the status quo because somebody didn't use their powers for good.

How much better would things be if we used our powers for good? Some of us are as gifted as any superhero, yet what do we do with our gifts?

In the Gospel of Matthew (God, c.1AD) the slaves are judged for what hey did with their gift, and the return they made. Only the one who buried his in the ground was punished.

However, I see so many gifted ones around me, both in and out of my line of work, who use what they have to benefit themselves, so often at the cost of others.

I look to my left and then to my right and see death, desolation and impending destruction and know, deep within my most honest part, that it's not just me that's the problem. ;)

if you stay long enough in the company of some, they'll mange to turn you from an idealist to a realist and if you're gullible enough, a nihilist.

THIS is the basic difference between Professor's Klash and Igor.

Jesus is real, but you have to find Him.

I know, there is a huge difference between Nihilism and simply having decided that there is a part of yourself that you will not give the public. I know that I for one must live a majority of my life in the public eye and I should be able to say, "This is the piece of me that you cannot have." I agree that you should try to help others and contribute where/how you can to charitable projects. However, you should be able to hold onto your religious beliefs and family values without having to give every inch of your soul to social networks.

Getting all religious up in here Charles. Enjoyed your post and I think you are hitting on something important in the money grubbing society of the modern world.

I believe if you give of yourself you will get even more back from others. Not everyone mind you, there are a lot of selfish bastards out there, but those are the folks I 'drop it like it's hot' and keep the good 'uns, like you!

I agree with Charity and KJ. It's not black and white. You can 'use it' to benefit yourself and others, and sometimes by doing the former you do the latter, anyway
