TGL: You state in Chapter 4 of your book “How To Find A Job: When There Are No Jobs” that "any decision regarding your career is your personal decision and you and only you should be in complete control of your career and destiny." What advice can you give to your readers to help them prevent others from unconsciously controlling their careers?
PR: Again it comes down to planning ahead and being prepared. If you are amply prepared than you can better anticipate and plan your life as best as you can. Planning is essential but you must be able to adapt. I saw a great quote the other day that will emphasize my point in this area. “It is not the strongest species that survive, nor the most intelligent: it is the one most adaptable to change” Charles Darwin

Yup--like the old philospher says--the mighty oak may snap in the wind, but the green sapling bends and survives.
It is true! You have to have a plan--but you have to be willing to veer...oh geez I have about 6 more quotes I could slap on here right now. You know...if you fail to plan then you...blablabla...you get it!
