"We all grew older
Until we became
The "people" we swore
That we never would be"
Until we became
The "people" we swore
That we never would be"
What I will never condone is how the wrong will try to destroy everything you've worked so hard for, without even a glimmer of conscience, uplifted or otherwise.
It confounds me how such ones remotely continue to live on with themselves & can only rationalise this by concluding they must live habitually in total, selfish darkness.
On the "soul mate" front, my experience is there's no such thing, & a coupla serious attempts at this has demonstrated that the whole "partner in crime" or "we're in this together, come what may", "love you warts n all" sort'v ideas all evaporate as the partnership no longer meets the parties' often implicit expectations. I certainly ascribe, ultimately to the saying:
"Men marry women with the hope they will never change. Women marry men with the hope they will change. Invariably they are both disappointed."
When I walked outside onto my street with a headful of this, to get a headful of something better, I was called out to by an elderly neighbour woman I often meet as we cross on the school runs, somedays.
It turned out that she had a flat tyre & wanted to borrow a pump, which I didn't have. She explained that she needed her car, as her husband had made an emergency admission with another, suspected stroke. I told her to think about wheel replacement as it sounded more like a puncture than anything else. She hadn't realised her policy would likely cover the job.
She reminded me of my own mum, and I silently thought "the worst is definitely yet to come."
As she had Green Flag roadcover, I suggested she call them. I left her at a crossroads on the way to see her son-in-law.
