Zeitgeist

When one is caught defining the zeitgeist,
It's really little more than a thought heist,
Just because you feel the same way others do,
Doesn't make you a public prophet, dude,
Feeling on behalf of people, then
Putting it as the voice of their thoughts, again,
Is a time honoured role of the sage,
Though, not a sensible way to earn a wage,
Our glory and personal, royal seal,
People desire to hear something real.
They spend their lives doing what they must,
To bear responsibility, worthy of trust,
That when we pass, others' stories amass,
Regarding the pedigree if our animated class,
What the world expects, so a standard remains,
Ones who've functioned to bring the most gains,
We've played our role, achieved the goal,
Given our all, though it took its toll,
Now we're dried up with the means to live,
Still no clue, clarity, or meaning to give,
Pay for your own living and dying
And whatever you do, don't give up trying.
The end is near, it's coming loud & clear,
Don't shed no tears, forget your fears.
